"Hope" is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all -

About
Julia Polinskaja was born in Moscow in 1995 and grew up in Hamburg from an early age. She began piano lessons at the age of four, but since then and until now has also been very interested in literature and dance. Her music studies took Julia Polinskaja to Tel Aviv, Cologne and finally to Basel, where she now lives.
Her most important teachers were Prof. Claudio Martinez Mehner, Anton Kerniak and Dr. Mark Shaviner. She received further musical impulses through master classes with Andras Kemenes, Rita Wagner and Kennedy Moretti.
Julia Polinskaja has performed as a soloist in the Laeiszhalle Hamburg with the KlassikPhilharmonie Hamburg, has given numerous solo and chamber music concerts in Israel, Germany, Spain, France and Switzerland and has taken part in numerous festivals. In 2022 she was a participant in the IMS Prussia Cove in Cornwall, UK.
In 2017, Julia Polinskaja founded the piano duo "Noema" with pianist Arash Rokni, which has since grown into a cross-disciplinary artistic project with the aim of creating new connections and forms of performance.
Julia Polinskaja's own different cultural experiences have had a great influence on her and she also searches for cultural and linguistic connections, narratives and, of course, connections to other people in her music. This is why all the different forms of chamber music are particularly exciting for Julia Polinskaja.
